A Nail-Biter, But An Overtime Win For SU
Whenever Syracuse Orange and Georgetown Hoyas collide on the basketball court, it’s a photo finish. Another nail-biter last night at the Carrier Dome as the Orange beat Georgetown in overtime, 64 – 61.
According to Syracuse Athletics Department:
“Jim Boeheim passed Dean Smith for third on the career coaching wins list with his 880th victory, as No. 2/2 Syracuse (24-1, 11-1) defeated No. 12/11 Georgetown (18-5, 8-4) 64-61 in overtime on Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome.
Boeheim now sits alone at the top with the most win by one coach at the same school. Coach Boeheim is in his 36th year at Syracuse.
Kris Joseph poured in a career-high 29 points and hit a career-best six three-pointers in a game that featured 15 ties and 18 lead changes. The senior was 9-of-20 overall and also had five rebounds and three steals. Fab Melo joined Joseph in double figures with 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked six shots.”
SU’s next game is Saturday, when they host Connecticut at the Dome – game time: 1 p.m.
