Today on the "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. we're featuring "Boy Named Sue", a number one hit in 1969 for Johnny Cash. The reason why we're starting off with that song is that on this day in 1970, Johnny performed it at the White House for then President Richard Nixon. The story goes that President Nixon asked him to sing "Okie From Muskogee", but Johnny said that he didn't record that song (Merle Haggard did) and that he would rather sing one of his own.

Here's a video of Johnny Cash performing "A Boy Named Sue" on a Danish TV show in 1971.

Enter Johnny Cash as the first artist of today's "Country Classic Double" in our Rewards Club for a chance to win tickets to the Isaacs Bluegrass Show at the Oneida Arts Council April 21st.
