Matt & Polly Wogg in the Morning Minimize

Matt Herkimer

I'm the last of the original Frog squad having been here doing morning since 1988 (With the exception of the first year when I did the 3-7 shift). The reasons I've stayed so (too) long? I love the area, I love country music, I appreciate my beloved co-workers and no one else will hire me.

My favorite movies are "Casablanca", "Citizen Kane" and anything with the Marx Brothers. Musically I'm all over the board but I do harbor a soft spot for late 80's-early 90's country as in Rosanne Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Mavericks, Kathy Mattea, Rodney Crowell and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

In my spare time I like to golf, hit the antique stores ( I collect old magazines), work out at the gym, watch classic movies and eat ice cream. I also do a lot of bird-watching but it sounds like a geeky thing to do so I won't mention it.

My goals include staying at the Frog til they drag me out kicking and screaming, see my daughter marry well and live to see (and utilize) the first effective hair-regrowth treatment.

My radio career began in Watertown NY at Froggy 97. From there it was a trip across country from a Froggy station in Ohio and another in Kentucky. I tried being normal at a station in Arizona but I've always been a frog at heart. I was born a loooong time ago in Gananoque Ontario Canada. I've called the US my home since 1995.

In my spare time I love to play golf, when it's not snowing or Texas Hold Em poker. I'm a reality freak. I TIVO everything from Idol to Big Brother.

As far as country music goes, I'm a junkie. I love Keith Urban and Sugarland and enjoy anything with a great message.

The Dark Knight is set to light up the movie box office again.  The Batman sequel returns to theaters today, a day after earning 8 Academy Award nominations including one for the late Heath Ledger in the best supporting actor category.

Keith Urban is calling his net album "Defying Gravity."  It comes from lyrics of a song on the album and Keith says it just struck him as a phrase that really defined the joyous, optimistic and uplifting spirit that seemed to show itself whilel making the album.  He says he's always approached making records as a journey where he just has to let himself go.  If the conditions are right, the music will reflect where he is in his life.  Defying Gravity is out March 31st.

Could new music from Shania Twain be coming soon?  The word around Music Row is Shania will make an announcement next week.  She recently said she's been writing new songs for an album and is concentrating on the lyrics.  We'll keep U posted!!!

SAVING A WET CELL PHONE

Ever dropped your cell in a puddle or worse, the toilet?  You may be able to save it.  Try these steps before tossing the phone and getting a new one.
-Turn off phone, remove battery and sin card.  DO NOT TURN BACK ON
-Dry it off as much as possible
-Put phone, battery and card in a dry spot with good ventilation, preferrably in front of an air conditioner.
-Let dry for 3 DAYS and not a minute less.
-After 3 days, reattach battery and card, turn on, cross fingers and make a call.
