‘Cute Kid’ of the Day: 6-Year-Old Giants Fan Mails in Piggy Bank Money to Help Out Brandon Jacobs
Some things are difficult to explain to a child, especially if that child is a die-hard sports fan and you’re trying to explain why his favorite player is leaving the team. This happened to our 'Cute Kid' of the day, Julie Armento when the news came that football player Brandon Jacobs was leaving the New York Giants for the San Francisco 49ers and her 6-year-old son Joseph wanted answers.
She explained Jacobs had to leave because his team didn’t have enough money for him. Now, being the adorably generous kid that he is, Joseph took it upon himself to mail in his piggy bank savings (a total of $3.36 — aw!) so the football star could stay. Attached was a letter his mom helped him write:
Dear Mr. Jacobs,
My 6-year-old son, Joseph, is a huge Giants fan. Last year he had the opportunity to go to a game, and he just fell in love with the team. He was very sad to learn that both you and Mario Manningham are no longer with the team. When he asked me why you were going to SF I explained that the Giants didn’t have enough money to keep you. So, in an effort to convince you to return to NY he wrote you the enclosed letter, and included money for you from his piggy bank.
Joseph is just learning to read/write so I will help you by translating his letter:
‘Dear Brandon Jacobs,
So you could go to the Giants, here is my money.
“I almost cried, I am still trying to hold it in,” tweeted Jacobs, along with an image of the letter. Later on he added, “Here’s what I am thinking for the kid, I have a 5 year old, I will go and pick Joe up at his home in jersey and take him and my son 2 chucky cheese, what y’all think about that.”
