Happy 35th Birthday to Sangertown Square Mall!! What were you doing 35 years ago?

In 1980, everyone was wearing Izod, playing with or collecting cabbage patch dolls, exercising with Jane Fonda and walking around with a cell phone that needed its own bag. On television the A-Team, Smurfs, and Dallas were the must watch shows. In the music world it was Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Talking Heads playing on Walkmans. A crazed gunman murdered John Lennon and the Apple Computer made its debuted.

Sangertown Square turns 35 this year. When they opened their doors in July of 1980 there were only 34 stores to shop at. Now Sangertown Square has over 70 with more on the way.

To celebrate 35 years of continued growth in New Hartford, Sangertown Square has unveiled a 50-foot wall display including various news articles and pictures throughout its 35 years of history.
