It's like the final lines from the movie, Stand By Me.  "I never had any friends later on like the ones I did when I was twelve."  You don't realize it at the time, but by being a part of 4-H your learning life skills and making bonds that last a lifetime.  Learn more about Cornell Cooperative Extensions' 4-H Youth Development?

The 4-H Youth Development Program provides opportunities for youth ages 5-19 to participate in innovative programs through which they develop life skills. 4-H members learn valuable skills, have fun, make new friends, solve problems, earn awards, practice citizenship, develop leadership abilities and make a difference in their communities.

4-H provides project base learning supported by science and research.  A great example of this is our public presentation and horse communication program.  A Madison County 4-H commented: “I look forward to public presentations each year, as it gives me an opportunity to challenge myself on a higher level. Due to my experience with public presentations as well as advice given by the judges my public speaking skills have greatly improved allowing me to share my ideas with confidence. 4-H has given me a voice.  Club meetings always include smiles as well as friends that brighten up my day.”  4-H provides a unique opportunity to develop a positive self-concept and poise, gain self-confidence before a group, and learn to express ideas clearly, respond spontaneously to questions, and gain subject matter knowledge.

Tractor Supply Stores will be selling 4-H clovers to raise money for the 4-H Youth Development Program.  Tractor Supply (Oneida, NY) will be hosting Demo Days from April 22 – April 26.  Also from April 22 – May 5.  During this time 4-H clubs will hold a fundraiser on site such as a bake sale or carwash to name a few options.  Please come out to support your local 4-H program. A large portion of this fundraiser stays local.
