The annual Saranac lake Winter Carnival is coming up complete with an all new Ice Castle for 2019.

This year's carnival theme is "Prehistoric Park"

Visitors from around the world travel to the Adirondacks to celebrate the annual Winter Carnival alongside locals who have made it their tradition for generations. It's the longest-running event of its kind in the eastern U.S. dating back to 1897.

It's a family-friendly 10-day festival that includes the famous Ice Palace, sports, performances, two parades, and three sets of spectacular fireworks.

I haven't been to the winter carnival in a couple years, but it really is the most fun I've had in cold weather. There are plenty of places to stop and warm up, have a drink or a snack and head back out to enjoy the fun.

The Ice Palace is amazing every year and to see it lit up at night is spectacular.

The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival will run from February 1 to February 10, with fun and mostly free events happening daily.
