As we get ready to roll the calendar into April, The NY Department of Environmental Conservation is getting to roll into Spring Turkey Season.  It doesn't start until May 1, but the free youth hunt's in Upstate New York begin in about 3 weeks.

The Youth Hunt is April 22nd, and so far the DEC has announced two locations for this year's event:

Jefferson County Youth Turkey Hunt

Watertown Sportsmen's Club
17751 Dry Hill Road, Watertown, NY
Educational day: Saturday, April 15th at 9 a.m.
Hunting day: Saturday, April 22nd

St. Lawrence County Youth Turkey Hunt

Massena Rod and Gun Club
155 Patterson Road, Massena, NY 13662
Educational day: Friday, April 21, 5 p.m.
Hunting day: Saturday, April 22

Take note, while the hunting day is the same at both locations, the Educational days are different.  The program is free for youth 12-15 years of age who have a small game license and turkey tags.  They must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who also must have the license and tags. Spots fill up fast for the Youth Hunts, so reserving a place now is probably a good idea.
