U.S.News and World Report has released their annual list of best hospitals in New York State.

According to U.S.News and World Report, the rankings are determined mostly by data. They are cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, diabetes & endocrinology, ear, nose & throat, gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, gynecology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. In four specialties, the ranking is determined entirely by reputation, based on a survey of physician specialists. Those specialties are ophthalmology, psychiatry, rehabilitation and rheumatology.

For consideration in the 12 data-driven rankings, the 2016-17 rankings started with a pool of 4,667 hospitals representing virtually all U.S. nonfederal community facilities.

Syracuse.com reports the following hospitals made the prestigious list.

St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery.
